Just a few miles west of my house, on the other side of the Brazos River lies a piece of land that has managed to escape being civilized. It has never seen a plow... Remains unfenced... It is basically the same today as it was when the first settlers arrived in Texas.

It is now being looked after by the Nature Conservancy of Texas. I like to wander by occasionally just to sit and listen to the wind blow across virgin prairie...
